Summary:
“Vienna” is a music video by Billy Joel that my team and I had the opportunity to contribute to during my co-op at Lightborne. The project utilized a linocut-inspired illustration style to visually interpret Billy Joel’s storytelling and reflections on Vienna, reimagining the song’s themes 46 years after its original release.
Approach:
I used Procreate, Photoshop, and After Effects to create stylized linocut illustrations, layering each composition with ink-blending techniques and masks to achieve dynamic movement, depth, and visually engaging effects.

This video features Lightborne’s breakdown of the creative thinking and process behind the project. A team of us collaborated across various aspects of the production, each contributing to different elements of the video. We were also interviewed about our individual roles in the process.
